Hale’s Alehouse

Completed in 2010

Silverdale, WA

Contractor: Western Construction

Often, designing projects in a suburban shopping mall is not necessarily a rewarding endeavor, but creating a new restaurant for a Washington craft brewing icon Mike Hale was quite an honor. In a lease space carved out of a former Lenscrafters and Champ’s Sportswear we were tasked with developing a restaurant with all the character and flavor of Hale’s Ales (though the beer would be brought over from the original brewery in Ballard). Leaning heavily on the traditional English brewpub for inspiration, the restaurant mixed in a more open feel with a mix of seating styles and a heavy dose of acoustical control. Clever derivations of Hale’s classic “H” logo crop up around the project providing a bespoke feel and layers of interest.
